Restoration Education
Ground-up auto restoration is, in many ways, a dying profession. It requires a unique variety of specialized skills that can often only be acquired through work experience. Transporter Werks is partnering with Central Carolina Community College to showcase their growing Automotive Restoration program, which gives students a chance to try their hand at each niche skill involved in restoring a vehicle.
Transporter Werks moved from our 25 year old home in Raleigh NC in 2019 to our now shop, in Dunn NC. In Raleigh, we found employees from NC State and Wake Tech. Luckily, a few years ago, we found our first employee who graduated from the Vehicle Restoration Program at Central Carolina Community College. Now, he is our shop manager along with 3 other capable hardworking graduates from the program. Through this program, we have been able to find life long mechanics, engineers, and specialists with talent.
At Transporter Werks we believe in the power of local partnerships, and our collaboration with the Automotive Restoration program at CCCC is a shining example! This program not only preserves a unique craft but also nurtures the next generation of skilled automotive specialists. Transporter Werks is committed to giving students hands-on experience, allowing them to explore various skills essential for restoring vehicles to their former glory. The program helps students discover their own specializations within the trade, fostering a sense of community and craftsmanship that we cherish deeply and hope to partner with for years to come.

I do some website management, but I mostly design parts here at Transporter Werks. I, as well two of my co-workers (then classmates) graduated the CCCC Automotive Restoration Tech program in 2020. In 2023, these two classmates of mine had both been working at TW for a while and invited me to join the team.
The CCCC Restoration program has prepared us all well – not only do we have a bit of experience with everything, but more importantly, we’ve all found our specialties in the trade. The CCCC program gives you a taste of everything, and the instructors will help you learn more about a specific niche if it appeals to you.
